A Smarter Way to the Hall
A Smarter Way to the Hall
Rowan Pennington, Editor-in-Chief • September 10, 2025

Green High School is solely using a new hall pass system called ¨Smart Pass¨. Smart Pass allows students to create their own pass that will then get approved by their teacher. This new site gives students a time limit, so teachers can expect when their students will return back to the classroom. This is more convenient for teachers, along with students. The new smart pass might look confusing to navigate but it's not all difficult. Students are able to use a chromebook, go to google and search ¨SmartPass.app¨. When loading on to the software it will then ask for a username or email. After...

The Future of Transplantation: Pigs
The Future of Transplantation: Pigs
Maisy Johnson, Copy Editor • September 10, 2025

For decades, scientists and physicians alike have been performing organ transplants as a way to save both people and animals lives. However, as science and medicine have improved, so too have translations.  In late August, Chinese scientists reported that they successfully transplanted a pig lung into a brain-dead human. This type of transplantation is called xenotransplantation, transplanting...

Cracker Barrel Logo Change Sparks Backlash
Cracker Barrel Logo Change Sparks Backlash
Emma-Paige Dobson, Staff Writer • September 10, 2025

Cracker Barrel’s attempt to refresh its brand with a new logo has led to unexpected controversy and a steep drop in sales. The company, which has used the same logo for more than 55 years, unveiled a redesign in August 2025. Executives believed the update would modernize the brand’s image and attract younger customers. Instead, within days of the announcement, sales reportedly fell by more than $100 million. The backlash was swift across social media platforms. Loyal customers criticized the change, arguing that the classic logo represented comfort, tradition and the company’s Southern...

Why I Think It’s Silly to Ignore Your Most Famous Role
Why I Think It’s Silly to Ignore Your Most Famous Role
Zakaiya Adekunle, Opinion Editor

Many celebrities have openly explained how they stray away from their most iconic roles, and I think that’s silly. Think about it, the roles that helped put their name out there and lead to them getting other roles are the same ones they stray away from? Many celebrities will throw out explanations as to why they don’t like talking about it, but honestly it doesn’t cut it for me.  Some actors...

The Unsung Hero
An unnamed student who did not want to take credit, has been helping lost freshmen in the hallways each morning. They helped multiple freshmen find their classrooms, the lunch room, and helped open a few pesky lockers. In the rush of the first days of school, and a new building for them, that type of kindness goes a long way. They did not want to be named, but if you watch closely you will see them in action. Keep it up.

App for That
The app of the issue is: "Nothing." Yes, it's real. There is an app that is called Nothing. It literally does nothing. No games, no features, no swiping. You open it, and... that's it. Strangely enough, it has thousands of downloads worldwide. Some claim it to be "zen-like," while others download it as a joke. Either way, it proves that in a world obsessed with more apps, sometimes people want one that proudly offers absolutely nothing.

Fun Fact
Did you know that sea otters hold hands while they sleep? This adorable behavior, called “rafting,” keeps them from drifting apart in the ocean. Sometimes dozens or even hundreds of otters will link up, creating a floating raft of fur. Sea otters also use kelp as an anchor, wrapping themselves in the seaweed for extra security. Beyond being cute, this habit shows their strong instinct for survival and community in the wild.

The Over/Under
I find the idea of football games amusing. I think they give good opportunities for socialization, but here's my opinion on them: student athletes often have practices after school which leaves them out of the opportunity to have a good spot in the section. Unless you are considered in the “popular” group of people there is no way you will be able to stand up front and enjoy the game like those who are. Football games are a popularity contest and in my opinion way overrated.
