The girls cross country team advanced through an outstanding season thanks to their pre-season training and their diligent work ethic which led them to regionals.
To prepare for the season, they start training from the middle of June until the start of the season in August. During the season, they run roughly 30 miles a week. Over the summer, the team canoes together as a way to bond. To prepare for races, the team gathers together every Thursday to have pasta dinners.
“The team has grown very close over the season which has allowed us to have more success as a team,” said Avery Price ‘25.
To show for a successful season, they placed second at the East Canton Invitational, third at the Gilmour Academy Invitational, fourth at the Federal League Championships, and sixth at districts. This qualified them for regionals but unfortunately their season ended when they did not qualify for states.
Ultimately, the girls cross country team worked very hard and had a successful season.
The boys cross country team recently faced an unfortunate end to their season as a team; however, they were excited to show their team spirit in cheering on the single runner who qualified for regionals.
The team begins practices in the middle of June and trains six days a week. Their season is around four months long with intense workouts. As they head into the season, speed workouts are added and they run about 45-50 miles per week. To prepare and loosen up for races, the team gathers every Thursday to have pasta dinners as well as Friday leg drains.

Although this was not the outcome they wanted, Eric Dando ’25, individually placed nineteenth. Unfortunately, he did not qualify for the state level. Team Captain, Edgar San Jose ‘24, explains that the team has experienced some rough patches throughout the season.
“Districts were definitely worse than we expected due to constant injuries among our top runners but we are happy to see our growth and for Eric to make it so far into the postseason.” San Jose said.
The boys cross country team were proud of this season’s accomplishments.
