Styles always come and go and here are some that have seemed to pop up this year. Between bringing back old styles from the 90s to new out of the box ideas, this year has brought a plentitude of new and old shoe trends.
With 2000’s trends being on the rise, mesh shoes and jelly shoes seem to be making a comeback. Both are flats that seem childish and retro. Jelly shoes come in a wide variety of colors, mostly neon and pastels. They are a great summer shoe for going to the pool. Mesh shoes are lightweight, breathable, and have net-like fabric. Both came back in style this past spring from a multitude of designers. They are nice fashionable shoes but the likelihood of them staying around for the upcoming fall and winter months doesn’t seem very high.
Boots only summer, a style that is all over people’s Tiktok FYPs. The trend involves people wearing soccer cleats out of the house to do their everyday tasks. At the price point of $250-$300 the shoe is to be considered luxurious. Not only will there be crazy clacking when you walk around but they are also not super comfortable for long term wear.
Most have seen barefoot toe shoes whether it be at waterparks or even just out and about. However, now there has been a rise in popularity with these shoes. They are designed so that the heel and ball of a foot hit at the same time. It is supposed to have your foot be as natural as possible. Now, there are leather ones for work, ones meant for running and even rain boots.
When asked, students around Green High School seem to have differing opinions on all the shoes.
A freshman at Green High School, Chase Helmich, makes a strong claim about the shoes, “They are bad and they look very bad. I could only see wearing them as a joke but not as fashion and I bet they are not comfortable.”
Ava Reed, a junior from Green, had positive remarks on the shoes. “ I would wear the toe shoes.”
On the other hand, Green junior, Sofie Helmich, would “definitely give a dirty look but each to their own.”
Shoe trends come and go. Some of these might stay around for the next couple of years, but others will definitely not make it much longer.
