Annie Knight, one of the outstanding teachers in the Language Arts department here at GHS, teaches Language Arts 11 along with Mindfulness and Selfcare. Ms. Knight graduated from our very own Green High School in 2006. She adores teaching here at GHS but in the past taught at Springfield. She’s been teaching for 15 years now, starting at Springfield and coming back to her original high school, Green.
“My mom was a teacher so she taught young kids like kindergarten and preschoolers, but I was always sort of influenced by her and would help her make activities and stuff,” Knight said.
Inspired by her mother, Ms. Knight knew she wanted to follow her path. She also loves to read and learn which sparked an interest in education. In addition, in high school, her favorite subject was always language arts.
“I always wanted to teach in an older setting where I could just focus on a singular subject, like language arts,” she said.
Knight’s favorite part of working at Green is the supportive environment and the ability to connect with the students every day. A fun fact that you might not already know about Ms. Knight is that she knows how to tap dance! And if she weren’t a teacher? She would travel, possibly as a travel agent.
Ms. Knight’s passion for teaching, love for learning and connection with her students is shown in everything she does. From her roots at Green High School to teaching 15 years in the classroom, she continues her love and dedication to language arts only grows. She supports her students not only academically but personally. Ms. Knight will remind us all of the positive impact a teacher can have on a school as a whole.
