For many students, coffee is a daily staple. Starbucks and Dunkin’ dominate the local market, with drinks such as the Starbucks Pumpkin Chai and Dunkin’ Refreshers proving especially popular. A few other options, including Biggby Coffee, Ohio Roasting Company and The Human Bean, can be found farther south. Now, Green is preparing to welcome another competitor: 7 Brew.
The drive-through-only chain is expanding quickly, with a location in Belden opening last winter. Known for its variety of drinks, 7 Brew offers flavors such as Banana Bread Blondie and German Chocolate, giving it a unique menu compared with its larger competitors. The upcoming Green location is expected to generate attention from coffee drinkers looking for new options.
Students expressed both excitement and concern about the addition.
“I’m excited for there to be a 7 Brew closer to my house, but I think it will cause major competition with Starbucks, Dunkin’ and T-Bubbles,” said senior Jacqueline Gearhart. “I also think traffic will be extra difficult due to the roundabout.”
Khloe Miller, also a senior, said she looks forward to trying the new shop. “I’m so excited, but it’s going to be so busy though,” she said.
Location has been a key factor in discussions about the expansion. The Belden site sits near an intersection with accessible parking, but the new Green location is positioned in a tighter corner of an already busy area. The roundabout in front of the site has raised concerns about congestion during peak hours.
“I have heard endlessly about 7 Brew; however, I haven’t been,” said senior Ethan Phillips. “But I have to try it. I’m just worried about the traffic and the roundabout.”
With its growing popularity, 7 Brew is expected to challenge established coffee chains in the area. While many students welcome the addition, questions remain about how it may affect local traffic and competition.
