Drake’s new album “For All The Dogs” was released on October 6, 2023. “For All The Dogs” was originally supposed to be released on September 22, 2023, but was delayed and pushed back. After Drake’s album release, he announced his Columbus Concert had also been postponed due to the fact that his Canada concert had technical difficulties. Based on all of the pushback, my high hopes were significantly lowered.
Drake’s album started off with a slower song “Virginia Beach” which made me have even lower expectations for the album as a whole. Drake’s style of music is generally a very hard concept to describe accurately because he has very slow songs, and he has very fast songs. I’m one of the people who prefer his fast-paced songs, so the second that “Fear of heights,” “Daylights” and “IDGAF” came on, I heard that beat drop, and it shook me.
Drake had many big artists featured in this album which made it very diverse. Drake featured popular artist: Yeat on the album. Yeat is an artist who has a more mumble-style rap that is harder to understand. He also featured 21 Savage, in his song “Calling For You” who he recently released a whole album with. This feature was different though because there were skits included in the middle of the song and it was a surprising twist on both of their usual song styles. Drake is on tour with 21 Savage until October 9th.
He also surprisingly featured Bad Bunny and I did not expect to enjoy this because I’m not the biggest fan of his music, but the second that I heard Drake talking Spanish, my body just felt a certain way. I automatically fell in love with Hispanic Drake. Drake also featured SZA and J. Cole who are two R&B artists. SZA and Drake also dated at some point so the fact that she’s on this album is insane, SZA was featured in Rich Baby Daddy and Slime You Out, released weeks prior to the full album release. Also featured on this album is Drake’s 5-year-old son, Adonis in his “Daylight” song which a lot of people weren’t the biggest fan of but personally I thought was jaw-dropping, he’s Drake’s son, and the fact that he’s just 5 it’s a big deal. Drake also featured some smaller name artists and some newer name artists in his album. Artists such as Tezzo Touchdown, Interlude, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Chief Keef, Lil Yachty, and Sexyy Red. But if you haven’t heard the album, I strongly suggest that you listen to it because I definitely think you can find one song that you would like because of the diversity of the album. Overall this Album is a 5/5 and Drake is most definitely winning a Grammy.
