Over the summer, pop-star icon Taylor Swift had over 140 performances over five continents, more than one million tickets sold, and more than one billion dollars in sales. The Eras Tour was, and still is, booming with excitement from swifties all over the globe, eager to purchase a ticket. This tour has been one of the most popular and unbelievable tours of the summer.
As a result of its cultural phenomenon, popularity, and impact, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” has been created. This film was less of a documentary, but more of a film that captured the concert up close and personal.
Having never seen a concert film before, I walked into the theater not knowing what to expect. I was, however, pleasantly surprised as the film ended.
This movie overall was extremely entertaining, being a film I think anyone, swiftie or not, would enjoy.
I loved the transitions between different eras. They all used incredible forms of cinematography, visuals, and sound effects which immediately hinted as to which era was to be performed next. The reputation era was my favorite when it comes to these aspects. The graphics were extraordinary, and overall the visuals were unlike anything I’ve seen before. Being one of the unlucky ones not being able to get a ticket, the film gave me an inside look on how it was to be at one of the shows.
I think for anyone who didn’t get to see a show in person, this movie is the perfect one to see. Being a concert film, this really captured the moments of what it’d be like to be there. An aspect that I found very touching was the addition of seeing the crowd up close, and seeing the true, genuine reactions of them.
I really loved how this movie was very different from any documentary out there. Showing Taylor and the dancers up close was very cool to see. I know in many documentaries they provide a load of information, which was not the case at all for this film. An overload of information can be boring for an audience, especially for me. The fact that they got straight to the point without any rambling or boring information was an aspect I was excited about.
Going into the movie I had very high expectations for which songs would be included. While I do not think the selection was bad at all, I do think that there could have been a few changes made. For example, I know that many people would agree that “cardigan” should have been included. I was disappointed when the folklore era was over without it.
With all of this said, if you love Taylor Swift and are willing to sit through a nearly three hour showing, you’re in for a treat. I give “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour ” a 5/5 for Taylor never failing to put on a show, and an unbelievably good one.
Global opening of this movie is up for a record for concert films, being $150-$200 million, North America taking the lead with $100-$125 million, overseas being $50-$75 million
