Green High School senior, Jamie Duskey, was named girls soccer Federal League Player of the Year amongst all of the Federal League teams. Duskey accomplished a total of 11 assists this season with 31 assists throughout her entire high school career. She played center-middle for the team and was also named Senior Captain with Reese Lipscomb this season.
Once most of the Federal League teams have finished league play, the coaches from each team come together to vote on individual and team awards. The main awards consist of honorable mentions, second team, first team, and player of the year. As mentioned previously, Duskey received First Team All Federal League and Player of the Year, additionally earning First Team District and Second Team All Ohio.
“It’s really nice to know that the other coaches voted for me and it was nice that I was being recognized, especially against tough competition,” Duskey said.
Duskey is not new to winning awards. In her freshman year, she won Second Team All Federal League and Honorable Mention for her District. Additionally, in her sophomore and junior year seasons, Duskey won First Team All Federal League and Second Team District.
In total, Duskey has played soccer for eleven years. Beginning with Green youth soccer, Duskey later moved to play at Jackson. Jackson Fury was in a lower level club league where she played there up until high school. During her off-seasons at the high school level, Duskey plays on Akron Force where her team has gone to nationals twice; allowing them to play in Colorado, Indiana, and Pittsburgh.
“Club soccer growing up was fun because I got to play on a different level at nationals and it allowed me to play at other places in the country,” Duskey said.
In the fall of 2024, Duskey will be attending Walsh University where she will continue her soccer career. She also hopes to study either exercise science or nursing. Duskey was able to bond with the soccer coaches at Walsh easily because of her club soccer connections, which made her decision to play there much easier.
“I talked to the coach who had the same coach I did growing up which was nice to know we had the same style of soccer,” Duskey said, “I related well with the environment there because of the coaches and our connections we shared through soccer.”
Duskey is not only a soccer All-Star, but she also continues to build the green soccer program through coaching young soccer players. She also participates in Environmental Club, Girls of Green, and is the Secretary of NHS.
She appreciates the atmosphere and competition of the Green soccer program and is forever grateful for the friends and teammates she has acquired throughout her time. Duskey carries all the attributes she learned from Green soccer as she moves forward to Walsh University, taking all she’s learned at home to the next level.
