Through her love for singing and performing, Claire Holdren, a senior at Green High School, has truly carved out a reputation for herself. Claire has been taking voice lessons for a little over ten years, has performed over 100 public solo performances, and been in around 30 musical theater productions. Holdren learned so much over the years through her experiences, is extremely grateful for the opportunities that have enriched her musical journey, and shaped her into the performer she is today.
“The music community is incredibly unique, fun, and full of love and support. The friends I have made through these experiences are people I never would’ve expected to meet, but I truly could not be happier that I did. I am so thankful for everything,” Holdren said.
Holdren has been a part of GHS musical theater for three years, which is the maximum available to students who attend Green. Some of the musicals she took part in are The Little Mermaid, Little Women, and Anastasia. She has made many friends along the way, making her experiences even more enjoyable. Although she loves to spend time with everyone in musical theater, she has a special fondness for time with her cousin- Kylyn Evans.
“My cousin Kylyn and I are like sisters. She has always been one of my biggest supporters and has been by my side every step of the way. She was also in Little Women and The Little Mermaid, and getting to perform with her was so fun,” Holdren said.
With musical theater, Holdren is also involved in many acapella groups and singing on her own, one being “On a Side Note.” Singing has always come naturally to her. She likes to work with music by ear when it comes to learning songs, playing piano, and writing music. Music holds a special place in Holdren’s heart, and she credits it as the driving force that has made her who she is today.
“I feel like singing has just always been my thing. It’s what I am truly passionate about, and what I enjoy most,” Holdren exclaimed.
Apart from music, Holdren’s top three things that bring her joy are friends, family, and faith. In the family category, one person that Holdren is particularly thankful for is her mom. Holdren’s mom has been with her every step of the way and has always supported her indefinitely.
“My biggest supporter is my mom. If you know me at all, you have definitely met, or at least heard the name, Erin. My mom is my best friend and absolutely the best supporter. She has always been at every performance, puts up with my nervous attitude before, and is the first to hug me whenever I get off the stage. I don’t know how I would’ve done any of this without her,” Holdren said.
Claire plans to continue her singing career through and after her college years. She plans to attend The Ohio State University and double major in secondary education and vocal performance. As Claire Holdren’s high school journey comes to an end, her lasting legacy will be one of hard work and dedication to the musical programs at Green High School.
