Temu and Shein are known for their low priced products that are primarily bought by Americans on their sites. Temu sells more household items like cups, decor, and also beauty items. While Shein is known for their cheap fashion options. They sell things like clothes, shoes, jewelry and many other accessories. The Wall Street Journal stated that, “In the U.S. ,Shein and Temu each ship an estimated one million packages a day, according to parcel – shipping consultant ShipMatrix”. The two sites have been crushing it and are dominating American online shopping. However, the two companies are currently battling it out in the courtroom. According to Temu, the issues they were dealing with concerning Shein needed legal attention. Temu’s parent company, Whaleco, filed a lawsuit against Shein. This story has grasped the attention of many of their customers and is being followed on the news.
Temu officials are airing out all of Shein’s dirty laundry in this case. According to the company, Shein was using “mafia style intimidation tactics” against their suppliers who they believed were also working for Temu. Shein was also threatening these people but they deny all of these claims. In retaliation, Shein sued Temu for allegedly getting influencers to belittle Shein on social media. Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time the two companies were in a legal battle. There was one case before this that took place in China but these two cases are taking place in American court.
The two companies continue to battle it out in the courtroom, leaving the case unsettled. Despite their issues, the websites are still dominating online shopping in America.
