While some enjoy a cozy week to themselves filled with movies and junk food, others prefer a getaway filled with thrills and good times. Because there are so many options, it’s hard to settle on just one vacation destination. However, Green High School’s population made it easy and spilled their favorite spring break traditions, ranging from staying home to scouring the globe.
Daytona Beach, Florida
While Florida in itself is a popular vacation destination, some students in GHS specifically like to visit Daytona Beach. Swimming, tanning and riding jet skis are some of the many things available for beachgoers. It’s also only an hour away from Orlando giving visitors easy access to a variety of amusement parks and shopping.
“We spend a lot of time just sitting around at the pool or down the beach, and we eat quite a lot of food,” Gianna Park ‘25 said.
“We usually go to Disney,” Charlie Park ‘27 said.
Grand Teton National Park
If a vacation spent embracing the beauty of nature or exploring a mountainous landscape sounds interesting, Grand Teton National Park is a perfect trip. At Grand Teton, there are vast opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing and all kinds of outdoor activities.
“You feel small there, and you see things you don’t see around here. It’s my favorite place I’ve traveled to,” Head of Vocational EducationDepartment Eric Allan said.
Topsail Island, North Carolina
Another vacation spot for avid beachgoers, Topsail Island is a slightly closer travel destination than Daytona Beach. Being a small island off the coast of North Carolina, Topsail provides a relaxing atmosphere without being too crowded.
“It’s the perfect place to bring a friend. It’s super fun because you can just go to the beach whenever you want, go on walks at 2 a.m., and watch the sunrise whenever,” Alaina Rollyson ‘25 said.
The Bahamas
If leaving the country as a whole over spring break sounds fun, the Bahamas is a favorite spot for some people. The islands are full of opportunities for new experiences, including swimming in the ocean with pigs and feeding stingrays.
“The Bahamas was a lot of fun! It was a week-long trip and we stayed at an all-inclusive, so I really recommend it!,” Kaylee Mizer ‘26 said.
New York City
New York City provides an entirely different vibe than the other vacations listed. City lights, shopping, embracing the arts and trying new food are all opportunities available to those visiting New York City. There’s a never-ending list of things to do and see in the city, so it’s a great spot to visit.
“I’m definitely going to go shopping! I also plan on seeing a play and going to Central Park. There are also many delicious restaurants in New York as well, so I will be checking those out too,” Lila Paine ‘26 said.
Staying Home
Spring break doesn’t only have to be spent traveling out of state, and many students prefer to stay home and relax. From sleepovers with friends to day trips into Columbus, staying in the state is a great way to enjoy your time off school.
