Whether it’s playing a sport, going to the gym, or just walking around your neighborhood, everyone should workout to improve their everyday life. Most people think exercising is a waste of time and they have “better” things to do. They don’t want to take the time out of their day to go to the gym. Working out can be time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. Simply going for a 10- minute walk could help to improve your daily lifestyle. Working out can help to improve your mental health, physical health, and help to manage your weight.
One of the first things people notice when working out at least once a day or more often is how it affects their mental health. Overall it helps to reduce anxiety, depression, and a negative mood. Studies have proven that while we work out our brain releases endorphins and serotonin that help improve our mood and make us feel good.
“I’ve noticed after working out that my mental health is a lot more precise and I’m in a better mood after. I primarily work out to stay in shape for tennis, but I just like working out in general,” Chloe Heim ‘27 said.
Additionally, working out can distract us from anything negative going on in our lives and gives us a short break to focus on only ourselves.
Working out can also help to improve your physical health. It can improve your muscle strength and boost endurance.
“I mostly work out because it makes me feel better about myself. I also work out with my friends so I push them to better themselves as well,” Zac Lovaty ‘25 said.
Working out gives people more energy, which helps them tackle daily chores or work. Working out can also help improve one’s life in the future. By making workouts a daily routine, a person can strengthen their body, which will help when they are older and can’t work out as much.
Many people find a passion for working out and can’t go a day without doing some type of exercise. Playing a sport helps most teenagers or younger kids be involved in an activity they love while also improving their mental and physical state.
“I’ve played soccer most of my life and I’ve noticed that when I’m with my friends I don’t even realize I’m working out because I’m just playing the game I’ve loved for years with some of my best friends,” Kelsey Rosen ’26 said.
Although some people may think working out is not that big of a deal, it is and everyone should try to get outside or go to the gym.
