Girls’ Varsity Soccer
The girls’ varsity soccer team is progressing into the new season after having a record of fifteen wins, two losses, and three ties during the 2023-2024 fall season. According to Green Bulldogs Athletics, the girls have seven wins, four ties, and one loss. The girls varsity soccer team has had multiple wins this season, and the team looks forward to keeping the winning streak. Outside defender Londyn Glass 27’ was one of the girls who contributed to these wins.
“It felt good after the game to get a win on the board, but our job is not done yet. We need to continue to win games the way we should,” Glass said.
Throughout the 2023-2024 fall season, the varsity girls were the District Runner-Ups, and made school history, as they were declared as the Federal League Champions.
With 23 players, each one has their own strengths and contributions to the team.
At the Glenoak Game on September 18, Karsyn Elrod ‘27, took a head shot and put the Lady Bulldogs in the lead, later leaving Glenoak and Green with a tie.
“I was happy that it went off into the crossbar kick and at that point we had an opportunity to win the game,” Elrod said.
Throughout the season, the varsity girls are hoping to improve as a team and individually. Sophomore, Anna Wells ‘27 is one of the varsity girls that comes dedicated to practice each day. She is determined to help out her teammates, by scoring, assisting, or defending, so they can succeed.
”I want to help push everyone, including me, to do their best every game and practice. We push ourselves to the very best and we all want to win,” Wells said, ” We are a strong team with many goals that we can accomplish.”
All of them working together, and pushing themselves to their full potential, can potentially lead them to achieve the title of Federal League Champions, once again.
Boys’ Varsity Soccer
The boys’ varsity Soccer team has had a successful 2023-2024 soccer season. According to Green Bulldogs Athletics, the varsity boys have five wins, five ties, and three losses, for this season. During the previous season, the Bulldogs went out with 5 wins, 10 ties, and 3 losses.
Starting out the season with four scrimmages, helped them to prepare for the upcoming challenges they were going to face. With 27 boys on the varsity roster, they all are pushing themselves to their full potential, to achieve more wins. At the start of the season last year, there was new coaching staff for the team. Receiving new coaching staff has impacted them a lot, and guided them to coming together as a team. Brandon Good, one of the new coaches, has helped lead them to more wins this season. He impacted the team by pushing them to their limits, and giving them advice on how to do better.
The boys soccer team focuses highley on teamwork, and having a positive attitude, so they can work their way towards success. Senior Isaac Al- Ardah is just one of the many who are determined and dedicated as they push their way through practice each day.
“The season is going better than last season. We got all new coaching staff last year and that has taken some time to develop our ability as a team to succeed.“ Al-Ardah said.On Sept. 21, 2024, The boys varsity played Hudson High school, in Hudson, Ohio, which is one of the highest ranked teams in the state. The Boys tied 2-2 which is very impressive. Varsity senior Raymond Maynard hopes to conclude his season strong and stay healthy. “My goal for the rest of the season is to enjoy it as much as possible, and not get hurt,” Maynard said.
Sophomore Logan Noriot hopes that they can make a good run to finish off their season, and make it to the playoffs.
“ For the rest of the season, I am looking forward to making a good playoff run!” Noriot said.
Concluding their season, the boys are striving to add more wins to their record.
