What is the fascination around conquering Mount Everest? Mount Everest stands tall at 29,032 feet. People of all ages attempt to take on the great mountain with the mindset of making it to the top.
In preparation to climb the mountain, people must train for months prior to handle low oxygen levels and extreme amounts of exhaustion. One part of the mountain, the Death Zone, is where oxygen levels were extremely low. This spot has claimed hundreds of lives.
Aside from the danger, the cost to climb the mountain is wildly expensive. The total cost between years 2024 and 2025 was $30,000 to over $200,000.
Now in China, a massive snowstorm hit on October 3, 2025. The sudden blizzard trapped more than 200 people on the eastern slopes in Tibet.

At this time of the year, it is rare for Everest to get hit by such a strong snow storm. Citizens who reside in the area have told the news that the scale of this storm is very rare this time of year and they hadn’t seen it for years.
The local government has come together to organize a resume system and team of police and citizens in the area to help the trapped hikers. Once rescued, they secure them in a nearby town where they are provided with food, water, and medical attention.
