Alix Earle Takes Over TikTok
Tiktok, the app built on trending videos and creating new content, found its latest ‘it girl’. Alix Earle fell into TikTok fame after a public break up with New York Yankees second baseman Tyler Wade. After garnering some post breakup attention, users on TikTok began to follow her content and appreciate her honesty as an influencer.
Alix Earle, with a TikTok following of 2.6 million people, capitalized on her five minutes of fame to turn into a household name among young people. Earle’s content can be categorized under lifestyle as she routinely posts videos called “get ready with me”, also known as #grwm, where she includes her morning routine with product details and her daily whereabouts. As TikTok’s leading lady, brand deals are not hard for her to come by. Some of Earle’s feed is sponsored advertisements that promote cosmetic products. Besides this, fans accredit Earle for her realness when discussing her plastic surgery by recently celebrating her “boobaversary”, which is the anniversary of her breast augmentation. This new found fame expands beyond social media. Earle was invited to attend Miley Cryus and Dolly Parton’s New Year’s Eve special in Nashville.
Her influence even reaches Green High School. Many young women of GHS follow and strive to be more like Alix Earle.
Senior Jules Beyes says, “I love Alix Earle. I feel like unlike most social media influencers, she comes across as genuine and honest about beauty standards. She shows me, and many others, useful beauty tips and overall how to live life to the fullest! Love.”
Beyes is not alone in her admiration for Earle. Thousands of people took to social media to express their support for her too. However, some media users oppose her overwhelming fame.
“I think it’s time that we stop centering attention on only beautiful young women who promote unrealistic beauty standards,” said a TikTok commenter on an Earle post.
Many wonder if this is only Earle’s five minutes of fame. However, others believe she is here to stay.
