In the fall months, some people are likely to have a fall comfort show. A comfort show is something that someone will watch for comfort, or an escape from reality. In the most recent years is when “fall comfort shows” became more popular. CableTv.com surveyed 1,000 Americans in 2023 and showed that 87% of Americans have a comfort show. The main reason why so many individuals have a show that is reassuring to them, is getting the feeling of connecting with the characters in the show. Some people may prefer to watch a comfort show with a partner. Most people that do have a comfort show, tend to watch it when they are feeling stressed and become emotionally attached to the show and characters. Some of the most known ‘Fall Comfort Shows’, according to social media, include Gilmore Girls, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy, and Vampire Diaries. These shows have so many viewers due to the long seasons giving more watch time.
Gilmore Girls
Gilmore Girls is one of most popular fall comfort shows of the year. The plot of the show is intriguing and gets the audience to want to binge. Due to the show’s elongated series, the viewers have more content to watch. The show Gilmore Girls originally came out Oct. 5th, 2000. This show has over 500 million hours of watching on the Netflix platform. This show centers around a single mother and her teen daughter living in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The setting of the show gives a cozy fall aesthetic that expresses a heart-felt mother-daughter relationship. Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are the main focus in Gilmore Girls. The mother- daughter duo goes through many ups and downs creating the dramatic theme of the show. The comforting aspect of the show can be related to the emotional attachment to the characters. The show includes some problematic scenes that leave the audience confused and intrigued. The escape from reality that this show brings can be comforting and relieving from someone’s everyday life.

The show consists of a unique story line that has a lot of plot twists and entertaining events. The town of Mystic Falls, Virginia is where the show takes place. Creatures of unimaginable terror sneak around this town as a teenage girl is instantly introduced to two vampire brothers. She soon falls in love with Stefan Salvatore, but she does not know the secrets hidden by him. This show brings unrealistic scenarios that catch the eyes of young adults that find comfort in watching these problematic events and plot twists.
