The NBA playoffs began last week on April 18th. In the league this year, it has been extremely competitive; not one team has seen to be too dominant over the rest.
The favored team to year this year is the Oklahoma City Thunder. A young team who ended up winning the NBA Finals last season after Tyrese Haliburton tore his ACL in the beginning of game seven which ultimately lead to the Thunder winning lead by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He was last year’s MVP and has made a strong case to continue that streak. He has been averaging 31 points, four rebounds and seven rebounds.
On the East, the Pistons are the number one seed led by Cade Cunningham, but some people speculate that their team is too young to truly be a contender. Other teams in the East such as the Cavs, Knicks and Celtics are looking to prove themselves to the rest of the league and make a deep playoff run. These teams have been battling for the last couple of years to show that they are the teams of the future. Among these teams the Cavs have been struggling the most when it comes to playoff time.
The West is filled with powerhouses, the Thunder, Spurs, Nuggets, Lakers, and Timberwolves are all teams that could make a deep run in the playoffs. Last season, the conference finals was between the Thunder and the Timberwolves which led to a classic matchup. In this playoff series, the Timberwolves have a touch matchup in the Denver Nuggets. They are lead by a three time MVP in Nikola Jokic who is looking to deepen his legacy even more.
The playoffs are looking to have a lot of unpredictability in the next couple of weeks with no answer to who could be the new champion. Leaving the question of what team will leave a new legacy.
