The war between Iran and Israel has been captured by every news site in the past few weeks, but recent updates say that the war appears to be interesting.
This is not a new development, tension between these two countries had been building for decades. Iran wants to shows its dominance and wants to be a leading power in the Middle East, whereas Israel is a part of the United Nations (UN) and has protections from many countries in the UN. Iran openly supports several anti-Israel groups, these groups include Hamas and Hezbollah. These groups have engaged in armed attacks, bombings, raids, and rocket launches into Israel. Beyond politics, they also hold differing religious beliefs. Israel is a predominantly Jewish population, while Iran is Shia Muslim.
This week, Iran has threatened to attack across the Middle East for many significant landmarks including water and power systems. They have also closed a major oil shipping route. This route carries oil to all over the world, and would have many negative consequences to it staying closed. Israel has spread to Lebanon, expanding the territories at war. This raises problems, because it is involving more countries, meaning more people and countries being put into dangerous situations.
This war is not only affecting the Middle East, The United Nations has been holding emergency meetings to discuss what can be done to make sure that the people of these 2 countries are safe, while also protecting the rest of the world’s safety. They have called for a ceasefire and to work out the differences using negotiations, but as of now, this has not happened yet.
In conclusion, this war is starting to expand and become a globe concern reaching far beyond the Middle East. Hopefully soon, these two countries can come together and stop the violence, for the good of the people and the other affects nations.
