Green High School’s girls volleyball team ended their season with an overall record of 12-10. They placed 5th in the federal league going 5-7.
The team ended their season on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 with their defeat against Wadsworth to secure runners up in the District Finals. They begin their first playoff game on the road against North Ridgeville with a clean sweep of three sets.
The team started their season with a four game winning streak against some federal league teams like Perry, Mckinley, and Lake. While the middle of their season didn’t turn out the way they had hoped, they made sure to secure wins for their last few regular season games.
Last year, the teams overall record came out to be 15-7 where they secured 3rd place in the federal league. The team lost their star hitter and important defensive specialist last year so they knew they had to work hard for this season. Underclassmen, like sophomores, Riley Maurer, Lucy Swizler, and Molly Collinsworth, had to step up this year and fill those important spots .
Senior and libero, Libby Hubert, led the team in digs for the season with an outstanding 375 digs. This season added on to her previous excellent seasons, closing her varsity stats at a whopping 905 overall digs. Libby will continue her volleyball career at Baldwin Wallace University next fall.
“Our season was built on hard work and dedication, which led
to a successful season. We grew so much and made memories, and I am so blessed to be apart of this amazing group,” Hubert ‘26 said.
Senior Ava Scott led the team in kills this season. She added 186 kills to her total kills of 482. Ava has played on varsity for three years.
“The team this year was truly so special and I could not have asked for a better season to go out on than getting to play with my friends,” Mckenna Eckard ‘26 said.
Landyn Gearhart, the only junior on varsity, dominates in the front row. She is one to look out for next season. The graduating class of 2026 consisted of nine seniors total. The seniors filled the majority of the team where they all have been a part of the Green volley- ball association for more than six years including: Adyson Desonne, Mckenna Eckard, Addisen Cline, Ella Sifferlin, Ava Scott, Julie Underwood, Libby Hubert, Izzy Dennis and Lillian Nickolas. As the seniors step away, it is time for the underclassmen to take control and lead the future teams at Green High school to greatness.
