Since I was young, I have always wanted to meet someone famous in the wild. Singer, actor, athlete, it didn’t matter who or what the person did. The idea of just bumping into a celebrity sounded cool and would in turn, come with a cool story. During Thanksgiving break, that dream became a reality. I went on a trip to Disney World and Universal with the band. We marched around the World Showcase at EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow for anyone was wondering what it stands for) but after that it was just straight of fun not having to worry about band-related things.
Towards the evening, when we were walking to watch a light show, my brother Uziah ran up to me whispering that someone famous was here. It was no other than Tyreek Hill, a well-known football player who plays for the Dolphins was casually there buying from a stand. This made everyone in our group, mostly the guys who know their football players, lose our minds! I didn’t know much about this man, but I was informed that he recently got surgery hence why he was in a wheelchair. I mean, the chances of seeing this man was slim, so even though I didn’t know him that well, I can cross out meeting a celebrity on my bucket list.
Throughout the trip I felt like a celebrity with the amount of times I was able to cut lines and go on rides multiple times in a row. The group I was with was made up of 12 people! It was a lot but it made it that much fun. While we were in line for Rock n’ Roller Coaster, we talked to a cast member named Emma and asked her if we won Rock, Paper, Scissors then we could go on the ride again. She actually agreed, and when Pierson Canter played, he won! So we were able to go twice in a row. Another time during the trip, we went on a water ride at Universal and after we rode it, we started screaming “one more time” and the worker, Julian, the best man ever, told us a shortcut to skip the line and we got to go on this water ride three times and was completely soaked by the end of it.
This trip really helped me to become close with people that I didn’t really talk to that often. We had many shared experiences and had multiple inside jokes from the trip to. Even though people may view kids in a band as “nerds” or “weirdos”,it actually is not that at all (for the most part). Going on a trip to march around EPCOT for one day, then the rest of the four days spent at the parks was a great ratio. It helped make the trip not feel too stressful because it was a one and done. But, honestly meeting someone famous like Tyreek Hill will have me talking about the trip for years to come.
