This week was a big one for the music industry, with major performances and several new releases across multiple genres.
The Super Bowl LX halftime show was performed by Bad Bunny. He was joined by two special guest stars, Lady Gaga, who sang “Die With a Smile” with a Latin flair, and Ricky Martin. Aside from “Die With a Smile,” the performance was sung almost entirely in Spanish to represent Bad Bunny’s Puerto Rican and Latin culture.
Staying in pop music, Justin Bieber delivered a shocking and emotional performance at the Grammys. Bieber performed his song “Yukon” wearing only socks and boxers while singing into a mirror, appearing to reflect on himself and his fame. The performance was seen by many fans as a symbol of authenticity and self-growth.
Following strong fan demand, Taylor Swift released the music video for Opalite from her album Life of a Showgirl on Friday, Feb. 6.
Switching to country music, Megan Moroney released the title track Cloud 9, which is the fourth song previewed from her upcoming album scheduled to drop Feb. 20.
Country fans also received a new collaboration as Luke Bryan teamed up with George Bridge on a duet titled Ride Ride Ride. The song focuses on resilience and the idea that strength comes from getting back up after setbacks.
In addition, Nick Jonas released his fifth solo studio album, Sunday Best, featuring 11 tracks. It marks his first solo album in nearly five years.
Looking ahead, Lana Del Rey is set to release a new song Feb. 17 as part of an upcoming album expected later this year.
