As Spring has begun to roll in, or rather, a lack of it in Ohio, it seems the state can’t decide on a season to settle on. One day it’s in the high 70s, and the next it’s in the 40s with a thunderstorm watch. Due to this, it’s been hard to see what fashion will come out with the warmer weather, since there has been a lack thereof. So, I’m deciding to predict the upcoming summer fashion trends when life feels like a Bob Marley song with average 80s all week. To set the mood, I’m envisioning bright colors. For example, light blues, matcha green, yellow, orange, pink, etc.
First, tank tops are a staple for all people during the warmer weather. However, I believe I sense a fun vibe to this. I can see Y2K-style flowy blouses, polka dots, and maybe even swirls. For other tops, I see baby tees, cropped colorful cardigans, and vintage style baggy shirts. I think a lot more people are going to get into thrifting this summer. Shorts are another given for the warm weather; nonetheless, I see color micro-shorts coming back with a plethora of cute designs, perhaps even plaid. Specifically, we have already seen recent brands like Hollister play into this with their recent spring and summer drop.
For pants, since there is already a Y2K theme to this, why not entertain the idea of capris? I’ve already seen this on social media a bit, and I love it. Specifically, foldover capri flowy leggings, but we might see different variants of this, like jeans or cargos, as well. Finally, shoes. I believe we are going to see a lot more variety in open-toed footwear. I’m thinking beaded flip-flops with different gems, Birkenstocks, and Mary Jane flats. Besides that, I can’t see people being too bothered with footwear besides the typical sneaker, as it is too hot for anything else. These are most of my 2026 summer fashion trend predictions for something to look forward to with the warmer weather!
