The 2026 Winter Olympics are nearing their end. Tons of athletes from all over the world have gathered in Milan to compete for a medal. Most people focus on the sports themselves, but have you paid attention to the different style choices?
It only feels right to begin with the host of this year’s games, Italy. Their designers are Emporio Armani. They made their athletic wear with beautifully tailored designs. They had Italian hats and red and green accents across their all white track suits. The highlight of their uniforms was their shoes. Their shoes resemble Heelys, but they aren’t close to the cost of those. Italy’s shoes light up in the snow and cost around $250.
Different countries have different cultures. Usually, cultures impact the clothing choices people wear. Most times, countries collaborate with a specific brand. That brand serves as their sponsor and is found on most of their clothing during the games. Let’s take a look at the different brands and outfits that different countries have put together!
For starters, Ralph Lauren acted as the main style and brand that represented the USA team. According to Vogue, “The team’s opening ceremony uniforms feature a white wool coat with wooden toggles, an American flag intarsia turtleneck sweater, and tailored wool trousers.” Ralph Lauren has had the chance of fitting Team USA for nearly 20 years. Their design reflects passion and optimism while telling stories through their timeless and modern clothing.
Another popular style choice was from the country Mongolia. Their outfits were designed by Mongolian label Goyol Cashmere. The uniforms have received a large amount of media attention because they mix modern styles with historical references. Cashmere is not only a luxury fabric, but it serves as a staple for Mongolians due to the cold climates they face. This style allows for warmth while still representing style and tradition.
In all, there are over 90 countries that compete in the Olympic Games. Every country comes with their own styles and themes.
