In the last few months, lots of popular books have not just been on the pages, they have also been online and now a lot of them are staring on the big screens. A lot of people have been getting back into reading due to different challenges and the easy access from programs like Kindle and Amazon’s free digital copies of lots of these wanted reads. These books are praised and or degraded on BookTok from the people who have read them. BookTok also offers challenges to the readers to see how many can be totally read throughout the year.
On top of the fame the books are getting on TikTok and other platforms, they have also recently been turned into movies. In the past, when people used to read more books like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Hunger Games, Twilight and more, they had been turned into movies regularly. There was a decrease in reading after devices were introduced at younger ages. Now books have increased again and reading has gone up with the production of these books as well.
The newest books that have been turned into movies include Colleen Hoover’s “It Ends With Us” movie that came out last summer and last month “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden.
It Ends With Us was a very controversial release since the book itself got a lot of criticism based on certain things that readers didn’t like about Colleen Hoover’s writing. Following the release of the movie, there was also lots of drama between the leads in the movie involving lawsuits which also caused more uproar about the movie.
The Housemaid by McFadden had a much more positive release since there wasn’t much controversy on the complex story. It released and grew to popularity almost instantly as the amazing plot from the book is beautifully shown on screen. McFadden’s complex and thrilling stories are meant to be on the screen, so finally being able to see it was amazing for those waiting readers.
Up and coming books that are being released into movies in the next few years include Colleen Hoover’s “Verity” and “Reminders Of Him” Emily Henry’s “People We Meet On Vacation” and Ali Hazelwood’s “The Love Hypothesis”. Although the books are never as good as the movies, it’s still always exciting to see the books we read on the big screens.
