3D Art at Green High School is a very immersive course and should be offered at all high schools. Taught by Mr. Juszli, 3D Art 1, 2, and 3 gives students hands-on opportunities from clay to paper mache. The benefits of having fine art show up in students’ roadmaps. Involving yourself in art lowers depression and anxiety (American Psychological Association).
Being a high school student is difficult, and it is easy to get your mind stuck on things that do not matter. With fine arts, students can decompress and express themselves through their own doings. The age group most affected by mental health are teenagers to young adults, the primetime of high school and college. The most common psychological disorders deal with depression and anxiety; paired with art, this pastime is a great way to lower these mental health issues without spending hundreds of dollars on treatments, medications, and therapy.
The prefrontal cortex is activated when indulging in artistic activities; which plays a big role in emotions and decision making, having 3D art (and art in general) gives students an escape. When working with different 3D mediums such as photography, sculpture and even digitized modeling, the brain goes into curiosity mode. 3D art can boost motivation, enhance cognitive skills and even prepare them for careers. Processing a task, then physically making a task come to life teaches students delayed gratification and motivates them. Additionally, exposing students to 3D art in their younger years can help students tighten their fine motor skills, improving dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Having a fine art such as 3D art in a student’s life is beneficial for years to come, and also offers opportunity for advancement if granted.

Hello! I’m Sophia, a senior at GHS, currently pursuing my love for writing. This is my first year in Newspaper and I’m looking forward to composing pieces to inform students, and also to make them laugh. Journalism is a perfect place for me to write characteristically! The Paw Print is a great opportunity for us aspiring writers to mix our personalities with words, which is something I love doing, so I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Journalism is a great environment to write about what you please, with guidelines, all while learning the real mechanics of journalism.
